STUDIO

NURU is a curatorial studio exploring the relationship between architecture, material, landscape and memory.

Through research, writing, spatial studies and design, the studio documents how places shape people, and how people shape places in return.

Every project begins with observation.

OUR PRACTICE

NURU works through a small number of interconnected practices. Each informs the others, allowing research, design and observation to develop together rather than separately.

Research

Studying architecture, landscape and material culture to understand how places evolve over time.

Writing

Publishing essays that connect architecture with climate, memory and human experience.

Spatial Studies

Investigating space through drawings, models, mapping and speculative proposals.

Material Studies

Exploring the performance and character of natural and locally sourced materials.

Curation

Bringing together ideas, references and projects into coherent narratives that deepen how architecture is understood.

Design

Developing thoughtful spatial and visual work shaped by context rather than trend.

COLLABORATIONS

The studio collaborates with people and organisations around architecture, culture, landscape and material to foster new perspectives and collective knowledge.
